Major Goals

Education Task Force

To identify, analyze, expand, improve and promote educational opportunities in the downtown region for all citizens.
Establish a balance of public, private and charter educational facilities and programs that aligns with the Downtown Community Plan's projections for increases in residential and workforce populations in the downtown region.
Propose modernization or reconstruction of the existing downtown school facilities.
Suggest appropriate locations for new downtown campuses.
Expand pre-K to college level (including adult continuing education) educational program offerings to better serve San Diego's families who will live and work in downtown neighborhoods.
Champion the concept of multiversity educational opportunities and encourage colleges and universities currently outside the downtown region to establish downtown satellite facilities and opportunities.
Determine the funding sources available from state and local agencies, including potential general obligation bond measures.
Improve awareness and support of downtown education providers by conduction business and community outreach and public relation programs.
