Overview
CCDC recognizes the importance of parking to a successful urban environment. Downtown currently has approximately 63,000 parking spaces in a mixture of public and private structures and surface lots as well as on-street parking.

To address near-term parking demands as well as guide downtown's growth, CCDC developed a Comprehensive Parking Plan for Downtown San Diego, which was adopted by City Council in October 2009. This plan presents an approach and a set of recommendations that will address parking issues as the downtown continues to grow and change. A May 2011 informational report outlines downtown's parking requirements for private development projects.
CCDC serves as the Downtown Community Parking District Advisory Board. The primary role of this Board is to manage the parking district and address parking supply and mobility issues by facilitating improvements and activities that increase the availability of parking. The Downtown Parking Management Group (DPMG), comprised of downtown citizens and business owners, advises the Board. The DPMG holds public meetings the first Thursday of the month, 11:30 a.m. at the CCDC offices.
