Lighting Advisory Committee

In addition to the public outreach process and stakeholder interviews, a Lighting Advisory Committee was formed to determine the interests of downtown stakeholders and residents.

Participants included:

SDG&E
Centre City Advisory Committee
Gaslamp Quarter Association
Marina HOA representative
Unified Port of San Diego
San Diego County Regional Airport Authority
San Diego Convention and Visitors Bureau
Downtown San Diego Partnership
Irvine Company

In addition, Palomar and Mount Laguna observatories were consulted during the Lighting Plan's development.

After extensive analysis and input from the Advisory Committee, three priorities emerged:

• Well-lit buildings and public places play a key role in economic growth
• Energy efficiency saves money
• Nighttime safety encourages public participation
