Sustainability Indicators

In order to evaluate the success of the program, CCDC developed a system of sustainability "indicators" - measures of environmental performance that can be evaluated and compared over time.

To ensure that these sustainability indicators are meaningful, CCDC undertook research of San Diego's current sustainability programs and plans and conducted a series of interviews and meetings with key stakeholder organizations and groups in San Diego.

The following eight sustainability indicators were identified through this process:

These indicators form a framework for new programs and can be used by other jurisdictions to develop sustainability plans in other areas of the city and the region, making Centre City Green transferable outside of downtown.
