Centre City Green

Public Participation

Public engagement has been critical to the development of Centre City Green and will continue through the program's implementation.

Key public and private sector stakeholders were engaged in the early phases of the program's development in order to identify what "sustainability" means to the downtown San Diego community and what environmental issues are important to track and measure.

During the first phase, the participation program included stakeholder interviews, and the establishment of a Centre City Green Advisory Committee.

The consultant team examined existing sustainability programs in the San Diego region as well as other municipal programs across the nation to identify best practices. The results of this research were used to help establish sustainability indicators , such as energy, water and transportation, in order to benchmark our progress.

The Advisory Committee worked with CCDC and the consultant team throughout the development of the draft Centre City Green program, providing recommendations and feedback that shaped the proposed policy changes and incentives.
