What is RSS?

RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is a web feed technology that allows people to have updated, summarized content delivered to them without having to access a web site first. It removes the hassle of having to check web sites regularly in order to stay up-to-date by sending you headlines, news summaries, and condensed journal entries. In addition, you subscribe only to the content you want to see so it's completely personalized. Best of all, the vast majority of RSS feeds on the internet are available for free. CCDC currently provides two RSS feeds, one for news and the other for events. In the future, CCDC may plan to expand this service to include content from other departments of public interest. The current format that CCDC delivers is RSS 2.0.

How can I use RSS?

Since RSS uses a special XML-based format, news reader software is needed to easily download and display the information. News readers allow people to quickly subscribe to RSS feeds they wish to follow and, in turn, display formatted headlines from the sources choose. Most news readers are free and are available as standalone downloadable applications, web browser additions, or web-based portals.
