North Embarcadero Visionary Plan
Workshops will focus on design review
March 19, 2008 – The Port of San Diego, the Centre City Development Corporation (CCDC) and the City of San Diego will be holding three public workshops for the North Embarcadero Visionary Plan. The first workshop will begin at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 27, 2008 at the Port’s Embarcadero Planning Center, 585 Harbor Lane, just north of Seaport Village. The next workshops will be at 9 a.m., Saturday, April 19 and 9 a.m., Saturday, May 31. Both of those will be held at the Embarcadero Planning Center as well.
At these workshops, the public will have the opportunity to review the design for the North Embarcadero Visionary Plan’s first phase and provide input. The March 27 agenda includes the design of the esplanade and Broadway.
The North Embarcadero Visionary Plan is a joint project between the Port, CCDC and the City of San Diego. The project will transform a 1.2-mile stretch of Harbor Drive from Laurel Street to the G Street Mole with public gathering spaces, widened esplanades, gardens and improved pedestrian access. Construction will occur in phases, with the first phase incorporating an area that fronts the entrance of Broadway Pier and continues on toward the entrance of the B Street Pier. This phase also includes roadway improvements on Harbor Drive from Broadway to B Street and the design of Broadway from Harbor Drive to Pacific Highway. The first phase is anticipated to begin construction late next year.
More information about the North Embarcadero Visionary Plan can be found on the Port’s homepage at www.portofsandiego.org under development projects.
