FOUR DOWNTOWN SCHOOLS TO COMPETE IN
SECOND ANNUAL GINGERBREAD BUILDING CONTEST
San Diego, CA—On Saturday, December 8, participants from four downtown schools, Monarch, Washington Elementary, KIPP Adelante Preparatory Academy and the Museum School, will compete in the second annual gingerbread house building contest as part of the fourth annual Downtown for the Holidays program sponsored by the Downtown Communications Council, a collaborative of downtown marketing and public relations professionals. The event will take place at noon in the Downtown Information Center at 225 Broadway (adjacent to the ice skating rink). Steven Luke of NBC 7/39 will serve as the Mater of Ceremonies. Participating teams will be judged by special guests.
The four teams of students will be given gingerbread, icing, candy and other materials necessary to create their unique holiday house during the 45-minute competition. Winners will be determined shortly after the competition and each school will take away its house for display.
Additional events are planned during the day and throughout the entire holiday season. For more detailed information about each event and links to specific event Web sites please visit www.sandiegodowntown.org.
The DCC is a collaborative of public, private and nonprofit public relations and marketing professionals from throughout downtown that was formed to find innovative and unique ways to market and promote the live, work and play aspects of downtown San Diego.
