CCDC SEEKS DEVELOPER FOR
NINTH AND BROADWAY AFFORDABLE HOUSING SITE

San Diego, CA—Centre City Development Corporation (CCDC) issued a Request for Letters of Interest today to identify a qualified development team to develop an affordable rental housing project on a Redevelopment Agency owned property in downtown.  The site is 25,000 square feet located on the southeast corner of Ninth Avenue and Broadway in downtown’s East Village neighborhood.  The project is envisioned as a high-rise tower of Type I construction with 250 or more units for entry-level workers and students.  Of the 250 units, a minimum of 140 units will be living units (small studio apartments).  A total of 25 units will be set aside as supportive housing units for special needs population.

"CCDC remains committed to expanding the supply of affordable housing downtown,” said CCDC President Nancy Graham. “With $103 million in funding for affordable housing this year (CCDC’s largest commitment to date) and the use of Agency-owned sites as development opportunities, 9th and Broadway offers an exciting public/private partnership to fulfill a critical need."

Interested developers are invited to submit letters of interest with their basic project concepts and development team information.  Based upon a review of these letters, a short list of qualified developers will be selected to proceed to the second phase to submit full development proposals.  A Pre-Submission Conference has been scheduled for Monday, June 11 at 2 p.m. at CCDC’s Downtown Information Center located at 225 Broadway, Suite 160 (First Floor), in Downtown San Diego.  Details of the Request for Letters of Interest are posted on the CCDC website at http://www.ccdc.com/index.cfm/fuseaction/rfp.home.
